STAGE 2. Analysing feasibility
What steps should be completed?
Step 2: Assess organisational resources
The allocation of resources to carry out collaborations often goes unnoticed, when in reality it involves work, time and money that are provided by the people involved. Collaborative processes should be provided with financial, technical and human resources, and even training if barriers to teamwork are detected.
Collaboration involves a minimum group structure and it useful to define the responsibilities of its members, the decision-making process and distribution of tasks, and to establish work schedules. We must also remember that, when people agree to be part of a work team, they also have a particular interest that they hope to satisfy by participating.
Finally, the operating rules should explicitly include respect, active listening and communication between the various members to prevent or reduce potential conflicts. Groups are formed by people, and therefore generate attitudes, patterns of behaviour and emotions.
