Step 1: Specify intervention actions

EVIDENCE ON PREVENTIVE INTERVENTIONS IN PREADOLESCENTS (approximately 11 to 14 Years of age)*

Some interventions in preadolescence focus on improving individual aspects, such as skills or family factors around parenting skills. Others focus on improving environmental aspects and interventions that provide evidence on specific strategies, such as brief interventions or media campaigns. The following information about these interventions is available:

  • Regulatory measures for advertising and access to alcohol and tobacco. +
  • Interventions to improve parenting skills (nurturing and educating the child). +
  • Brief early detection and health counselling interventions. +
  • Educational interventions to teach personal and social skills, and work on social influence. +
  • Multicomponent community interventions. +
  • Interventions related to drugs policy and the culture in schools. +
  • Interventions to work on psychological vulnerabilities. +
  • Social media campaigns. +
  • Tutoring interventions (mentoring). +
